Puerco Mechado or Shredded Pork

Ingredients

  • 3 Lbs Pork Butt
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 small Onion
  • 2 stems cilantro
  • 1 Tsp Goya Adobo
  • 1 small tomato
  • 1 Tsp Cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. Oregano
  • 2 Tsp salt
  • 2 Sprigs Cilantro finely chopped
  • 1 pack Goya Sazon with Achote
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 small red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 small yellow bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 Tbs Bazodee® Marvelous Marinade

Directions

  1. Cut pork into cubes and season with Bazodee™ Marvelous Marinade, cumin. Adobo and oregano
  2. Cover and marinate for 1 – 2 hours (the longer the better)
  3. Dissolve Goya seasoning cube in 1 cup of hot water to make stock
  4. In large saucepan cover pork with water and Goya stock
  5. Add garlic, onion, salt and cilantro
  6. Cover and boil until very soft and tender (approximately 2 hours)
  7. Remove pork from liquid and let cool (keep some water for flavoring)
  8. Strip pork
  9. In large pan heat olive oil and add shredded meat and a small amount of the seasoned loo add Adobo and Cook for about 15-20 minutes on medium heat - add salt if necessary
  10. Garnish with cilantro and chopped bell peppers

Optional

  1. Flank steak can be used instead of Pork Butt
  2. To shorten time, meat can be cooked in pressure pot
